BLOGDATE AUGUST 15, 2009

Time for a quick trip to the grocery store.

We pulled in to an island called Fedje knowing that we were in need of some basic provisioning. When we arrived we immediately met David from the sailing vessel Prince Bio, a 41-foot Junneau Sun Legend, who iformed us that there was a store nearby, but they closed in an hour and were closed on Sunday as well.

So off we went...

Off the boat...

Across the dock to the scaffolding...It was a bit rickety and unstable but we managed...

Next we had to walk through some old buildings and rubble to get to the chain ferry.

Once on the ferry Emily and I had to turn the wheel to pull us across a 100-meter channel.

Then it was a simple walk up the road, passed the church, and around the bend to the grocery store. We all spread out and found our goods, then retraced our steps back to the boat.

And that's the way it is. You never know what you'll find whenever you land in a new port.

Next chore...laundry. Another adventure was at hand.
