Philip left us to return to Manhattan, having helped get the boat from mainland Europe to Mallorca. Now it was time for the nuclear family reunion.

John Hoopes arrived at Palma airport on an evening flight from Barcelona, his travels originating in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where he has been working as a Trip Leader for Backroads.com. With Luna remaining on board for a few more days, we now had a rare Hoopes nuclear family reunion. The Millenials (John calls them “the Entitled Generation”) instantly reconnected complete with playful teasing and sibling wrestling matches. We all quickly regressed to past familial behaviors.

We sailed southeast and then northeast around the east end of Mallorca, taking mooring balls in La Rapita and Porto Colom where Emily left us to return to Andalusia. It was in Cala Virgili that we had perhaps the best photo shoot of the season, with Windleblo at anchor next to an extraordinary grotto.

All too soon, it was time for John to return to Croatia. Our final anchorage with him was at Cala De Sa Font on Mallorca’s northwest corner, where we anchored off a beautiful beach resort that catered mainly to Germans on holiday. There, we saw John off for a bus ride across the island back to Palma airport.
