Return to Fourth of July Cove

This evening, we find ourselves swinging at anchor in Fourth of July Cove, an idyllic cove hidden just east of Lindesnes, Norway’s southernmost cape, so named because we first anchored here on July 4, 2009, on our inaugural voyage up Norway’s west coast.

This is a “déjà vu all over again” moment for us. Almost exactly two years ago, we stumbled upon this beautiful cove and dropped anchor, greeted by a pair of swans.

The swans are gone, a mother duck and her ducklings taking their place. Arriving around 2 p.m., we whiled away the afternoon with a nap and some projects. This evening, I found the water too cold for a swim, unlike two years ago when a hot spell had accelerated the sea’s warming.

Posted above is a photo of Windleblo at anchor in Fourth of July Cove in 2009. It could have been taken today. Jocelyn uses this picture as her screensaver on her home office computer, making it even more remarkable to visit here again.

Tomorrow, we round Lindesnes.
