Waiting

We're like kids on Christmas eve. We know we have to go to sleep before Santa will arrive, but we're so anxious for him to come that sleep won't come.

We've made our lists and checked them twice. Everything has been put in order. Now all there is to do is wait. Wait for a week from Monday when we depart for the cruising life.

Of course, there are moments to savor between now and then. My good friend and fellow Bottom Feeder Tim Brown invited me to lunch today for a personal Bon Voyage. And all Jocelyn's girlfriends are treating her to lunch next Monday. Then there's the official Bon Voyage party on June 13th.

And work work needs wrapping up. Jocelyn is busy getting as far ahead as possible with her clients and training those who'll cover for her while she's gone. A standing agenda item for my last few meetings with Institute for Environmental Solutions colleagues is "What to do while Jack's away."

Several tasks remain on the trip preparation punch list, like mothballing the Prius and planting pumpkins to harvest upon our return. I continue my self study on navigation, marine diesel engines, SSB radio operation, and the like. So we are occupied.

None-the-less, we've entered a wait period like none before. The air is thick with Anticipation.

12 days and counting.
